At Niti we utilize counseling strategies to address specific problems identified at intake. Our unique approach guides individuals to enhance self- esteem, improve relationships and promote happiness. 
We use the following counseling strategies:
A. Mindfulness: individuals learn & practice mindfulness strategies and HeartRate Variability trainings. These techniques help individuals become more aware of themselves, become more attentive in the present moment, be non-judgmental and how to be effective in the present moment. 

B. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT):

DBT is a type of CBT that is skills oriented and assist clients to cope effectively with stressful & painful situations. It is a unique approach that brings together the idea of acceptance and change.
DBT strategies assist our clients to change negative or ineffective behaviors. 
We focus on four skills based strategies to help our clients manage painful emotions, and reduce conflicts.
1. Mindfulness Strategies: 
individuals learn & practice mindfulness strategies and HeartRate Variability trainings. These techniques help individuals become more aware of themselves, become more attentive in the present moment, be non-judgmental and how to be effective in the present moment. 
2. Emotion Regulation Strategies: Assist our clients in recognizing, labeling and adjusting emotions.
3. Distress Tolerance Strategies: Assist our clients in navigating intense distressing emotions.
4. Interpersonal Effectiveness Strategies: Assist our clients in navigating conflicting situations and being able to interact with others in a more assertive manner. 

C. Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT):

ACT is an empirically based psychological intervention that teaches skills in assisting our clients live & behave in ways that are consistent with their personal and family values while developing psychological flexibility. 
Acceptance & mindfulness strategies along with commitment & behavior change strategies are effective in addressing – workplace stress, test anxiety, social anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorders, chronic pain, fibromyalgia and health related conditions. 
Individuals will learn to stop avoiding denying and struggling with their internal emotions and instead accept these inner feelings as being an appropriate response to certain situations that should not prevent them from moving forward in their day to day lives. They feel unstuck and more hopeful.

 

D. Motivational Interviewing Strategies:

These strategies assist clients in resolving their contradictory / ambivalent feelings and insecurities to promote internal motivation necessary for ineffective behaviors / habits to change.
